Partly due to the fact that the story of Desmond Miles and the Assassin’s guild has been going on for so long, and the last game left things at such a cliffhanger, it would take quite a cut scene in order to bring you up to speed. The game does offer you a few helping hands at the start, but our advice would be to get yourself onto the Assassin’s Creed wiki and read up on the lore.
You are going to want to, as the story in Assassin’s Creed III is a real corker. It takes about four hours or so of gameplay to really get going, with one major twist early on which we guarantee will be unexpected. After that, everything gets fairly animus-tastic, with things switching between Desmond in the real world and Connor, the native American protagonist.
We have to say, things get fairly Star Wars-like. Connor is tasked with getting rid of his father, who is in charge of the Templar, the group of bad guys that every assassin has been up against in every game.
To be perfectly honest, there are so many twists and turns in the story, that we wouldn’t be right revealing much of it to you. One thing's for sure, what you’ve seen in the trailers and adverts is a long way from the start of the game. This is an epic, which takes time to get going, but once it does, you are going to want to explore every nook and cranny of the story.
The actual time period is also, as is always the case with Assassin’s Creed games, perfectly executed. At nearly every corner someone famous from history pops his or her head. Benjamin Franklin and Samuel Adams but to name two such cameos.

It is a direct sequel to 2010's series reboot Medal of Honor and the 14th installment in the series. The single-player mode will continue to follow the story of Tier 1 operators. The single-player will feature various locations including the Philippines and Somalia. The story was written by real Tier 1 Operators while they were deployed overseas and each mission is inspired by a real-world event. Following on the heels of 2010’s Medal of Honor that took the game series out of World War II and introduced players to today’s most elite U.S. warriors, Medal of Honor Warfighter takes players out of Afghanistan to continue to experience gameplay missions with a dotted line to real world incursions. This is Tier 1 on a global scale, featuring real world hotspots and international Tier 1 Operators in Multiplayer.

You might think we're done with single-player real-time, turn-based RPGs, but you would be very wrong about that, as that's exactly what Of Orcs and Men is. Developers are moving away from that idea (see: Dragon Age 2), but there are still people out there in the market for this type of game, as World of Warcraft is still going strong, despite all the doomsayers. And you all still like Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, right? Of course you do.
The year 2012 is basically My Year of MMOs, and so I felt right right at home with the combat in Of Orcs and Men. It's pretty simple. You play with two characters, a massive orc named Arkail (who looks like The Incredible Hulk with a beard) and a tiny little Goblin named Styx. Each of them has a pair of ability wheels from which you draw your attacks. You can, as you would hope, bind skills to numbers, from 1 to 9. But there is no skill bar like you would see in WoW or The Secret World, and so if you want to choose an ability that isn't bound, or if you can't handle keep track of more than four numbered skills, like me, you have to press space to slow the game to a crawl and bring up the ability wheels. Yes, a skill bar would have been nice.
You can switch between the two characters on the fly, but you'll probably decide which one you like more and stick with him. I went with the orc, because I have more fun dealing damage, but that doesn't mean Styx is useless. It just depends on what play style you prefer.
